In season 1, episode 3 of The Awakened Therapist Podcast, Harmony and her guest talk about how to stay present with a client when working with a neurodivergent population. Learning to expand out capacity to welcome our client as they are without trying to make them different is the essence of this nonviolent, transpersonal approach. They also explore the way their own personality impacts their work, and visa versa.
Each episode has two parts: 1) Conversation and 2) Consultation. The conversation portion is streaming on all major platforms, and the consultation portion is available to Patreon members. To listen to the consultation portion, join us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/c/TheAwakenedTherapist
In the exclusive consultation portion of this episode, Harmony and her guest consult about a case where a client’s inner fragility has the therapist feeling tentative about how to engage in the therapeutic process. Learning how to contact the client as they are has proven challenging because being accurately witnessed seems to activate a shame spiral. Throughout the consultation, the therapist deepens understanding of their own countertransference and creates more clarity about how to work with this client. You’ll notice that the guest therapist remains anonymous. This is to safeguard client anonymity for the consultation portion.
